The world was dominated by the Haiti Earthquake and millions rallied to the country’s cry for help. Interchange was no exception and has lent its support to Just a Drop’s JUST HELP HAITI Appeal.
Unlike many charities and the DEC, Just a Drop is looking beyond the immediate emergency relief operation and their focus to help rebuild communities’ water and sanitation infrastructures because it is vital to provide sustainable, clean and safe water to enable displaced people to return to their towns, villages and streets and start rebuilding their own lives through employment, agriculture and education.
Interchange is proud to joining others in the international travel & tourism industry to give its support to JUST HELP HAITI and would hope that would be kind enough to make a small donation here to help towards the long term life-saving work that will need to be carried out.
Ironically Haiti was one of those typical out of the way destinations that we featured as a group holiday programme. We arranged Art in Haiti groups which allowed people to enjoy the country’s remarkable naïve, impressionistic, voodoo, and modern artworks while also discovering a fascinating land and meeting its warm and friendly people.
It’s an example of how Interchange reaches out also to those places that other operators fail to reach to provide truly unique travelling experiences that people can care in the company of like minded individuals. Other examples in the region include Ecuador and hidden parts of Cuba and Mexico.
Closer to home are destinations like Albania, Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine. Each is rich in their history and culture; everyone is to be discovered by groups of discerning and independent travellers.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti during this desperate time. We will be back in the years to come!
